Water is a basic resource, essential for every individual. It should be used wisely so that everyone on earth has adequate access to it. In today’s world, water is becoming increasingly scarce because of constant wastage of it. In many rural areas safe drinking water has become a scarcity. People from such areas have to travel for hours to get access to clean drinking water. Humans often waste significant amounts of water, because we take it for granted thinking it is available in abundance. While there is enough water to meet human needs, it is insufficient to satisfy our greed and carelessness. We can take small steps at our end to preserve water. No taps should be left open to avoid wastage. Residual water can be repurposed for gardening, for example watering the plants. In addition to this, leaking taps should be repaired, or water collected from them can be reused. Rain water harvesting is one of the easiest methods to have excess water. Excess water must go to the ground to maintain the water table levels. Schemes and awareness programs should be conducted to raise awareness regarding water conservation and effective management. We all must use water in a sustainable manner to preserve it for future generations as well. Therefore, conserving water is not just a personal responsibility but a global necessity.
