Reading books or reading in general is a therapeutic activity. It is a hobby for many and a great way for people to keep themselves busy. Books span many genres such as, fictional, non-fictional and others. Some people read for knowledge while others read to occupy leisure or for entertainment. Reading for knowledge comes from educational books or self-help books which offer life lessons or are motivational in nature. Reading shapes our personality. When we read we improve our vocabulary because we come across new words. Reading helps us to see how ideas and thoughts can be expressed by different authors. We learn about distinct perspectives and life experiences. Our imagination and understanding enhance. One form of meditation and calming our mind is reading. It acts as an escape from reality and our thoughts allowing us to comprehend other peoples realities and life stories.
