Fashion has become a strong expression of identity in today’s world, but its environmental cost is often overlooked. People change and adapt to the emerging trends to remain relevant and modern. Fashion includes clothes, accessories, shoes and others. Because people want to keep up with the trends, they end up buying new clothes and other things often. This isn’t good for the environment. Clothes are not always biodegradable, which means that some materials remain in the nature for years. This contributes to soil pollution, which affects the quality of soil and its ability to produce crop in future. Moreover, this waste gets deposited in oceans, which negatively impacts the marine life and flora and fauna. Eventually this waste is burned which causes air pollution and that affects the air quality index. Sustainable fashion is important not just for the environment but also for us to learn to reuse our clothes and other accessories. Furthermore if we repeat our outfits, it won’t make us outdated. To promote sustainability, we should repeat wearing different attires and if they get worn out, we must donate them to the underprivileged. Sustainability fashion is not just about reusing clothes, it is also about making a culture that values style as much as the planet.
