How music influences emotions and culture

Music plays an important role in everyone’s lives. For many, music serves as a form of  therapy, bringing peace and calmness. It has been scientifically proven that music heals us emotionally and physically. It is music that can calm our minds and make us vibe, connect and resonate to its rhythm and tunes. Nowadays there are different genres, there are songs tailored to different emotional states for example party, pop, devotional, hip-hop and many others. Due to such variety, individuals choose music to suit their mood which eventually makes them feel better and at peace. In India, many people start their day with religious hymns. Music is used for dancing or devotional dances. Moreover, classical and semi-classical music have been a representation of importance of singing in our culture for years. Music was also used as medium of communication, meaning it was possible to say something in the form of a song than saying the same thing in a conversation. In addition to this, music is available in many languages to cater to people from different language backgrounds. Therefore it becomes essential for us to preserve and protect our culture as music continues to shape both our emotions and our cultural identity.
